Rocket Mortgage HELOC (2026): Does It Exist, and What to Get Instead

What Rocket actually offers, the catches, and the HELOCs to check instead.

Looking for a Rocket Mortgage HELOC? There isn’t one. Rocket Mortgage, the lender you might still know as Quicken Loans, offers a fixed-rate home equity loan instead. That’s one lump sum, it starts at $45,000, and you need a credit score of at least 680.

So if you want an actual line of credit, go somewhere else. Check your rate at Figure first, since it uses a soft credit pull and could fund in as few as 5 days. Then get a second quote from Upstart Home Lending, which offers a HELOC for credit scores starting at 600.

HELOC to check first
  • Lines from $15,000 to $750,000 ($35,000 minimum in Texas)
  • APRs from 7.35% to 14.85% as of October 2026
  • Soft credit pull to check your rate. The full application is a hard pull
  • Funding in as few as 5 days
  • Origination fee of up to 4.99%, and the full amount is drawn at closing

Rocket Mortgage HELOC alternatives: Rocket vs. Figure vs. Upstart Home Lending

Here’s the short version. One of these three isn’t a HELOC at all, and that’s the one with the Rocket name on it.

Does Rocket Mortgage offer a HELOC?

No. Rocket’s home equity product is a home equity loan, which it launched in 2022. Its Q2 2026 earnings release talks about that home equity loan and doesn’t mention a HELOC.

You’ll find a few sites out there describing a “Rocket HELOC” anyway. None of the ones we read pointed to anything from Rocket itself, so don’t plan around it.

What happened to Quicken Loans?

Same company, new name. Quicken Loans announced it was becoming Rocket Mortgage in May 2021, and the switch was done by July 2021. So if you’re searching for a Quicken Loans HELOC, the lender you’d apply with today is Rocket Mortgage, and what it sells for home equity is the loan.

What Rocket offers instead

Here’s what Rocket’s home equity loan looks like, based on Rocket’s own pages as quoted by NerdWallet and Bankrate. Rocket’s site blocks automated reads, so we couldn’t check every number against it directly.

Rocket Mortgage home equity loanWhat’s reported

Nothing wrong with a fixed-rate loan if you need a big chunk of cash at once and want the payment locked. The problem is everything you don’t see until you’re halfway through the application.

The catches with Rocket’s home equity loan

What to know before you apply

  • $45,000 minimum. Need $15,000 for a kitchen or $20,000 for a roof? You can’t borrow just that.
  • 680 credit floor. Under 680 and Rocket isn’t an option.
  • No published rates. You won’t see a number until you apply.
  • Closing costs are on you. At 3% to 6%, that’s $1,350 to $2,700 on the $45,000 minimum.
  • No line of credit. You get the whole amount at once and pay interest on all of it.

Where it could still fit

  • You need $45,000 or more now. A big project with one bill, paid up front.
  • You want a fixed payment. The rate doesn’t move.
  • Your score is 680 or higher. And you’d like to compare a lender you already know.

The no-rates part should bug any shopper. Figure and Upstart Home Lending both publish an APR range, so you know the ballpark before you hand over anything.

What a $20,000 roof looks like at each lender

Say your roof quote comes in at $20,000 and you want to pay for it with your equity. Here’s how that plays out.

Rocket can’t do $20,000. The minimum is $45,000, so you’d be borrowing $45,000 to get $20,000, and paying interest on $25,000 you don’t need. Rocket doesn’t publish rates, so pick a round 8% just to see the math: the extra $25,000 costs roughly $2,000 in interest in the first year alone. Closing costs grow with the loan too. At Bankrate’s 3% to 6%, they run $1,350 to $2,700 on $45,000, against $600 to $1,200 on $20,000.

$20,000 roofCan you borrow about $20,000?What it means for you
Rocket MortgageNo. The minimum is $45,000Interest on an extra $25,000 you don’t need, plus closing costs on the full $45,000
FigureYes. Lines start at $15,000You draw the full $20,000 at closing, which is fine because the roofer gets it all. The origination fee tops out at 4.99%, or $998 on $20,000
Upstart Home LendingClose. Lines run $26,000 to $250,000You must draw at least 80% at closing, which is $20,800 on the smallest line. A better fit if the quote creeps up or you’ve got a second project

The 8% rate is an illustration only, not a quote from any lender.

Bottom line: for a project under $45,000, Rocket is out before you even get to the rate.

Next stepSee what Figure could offer on the amount you actually need. Checking your rate is a soft credit pull.

HELOC vs. home equity loan: which one do you actually want?

At a glance: A home equity loan pays you one lump sum at a fixed rate. A HELOC is a line of credit against your home that you borrow from, usually at a variable rate. Both use your home as collateral.

The classic bank HELOC lets you take a little now and a little later, and you only pay interest on what you’ve used. That’s the reason most people search for one.

The online HELOCs have their own twist, though. Figure draws the full amount at closing, and Upstart Home Lending requires at least 80% up front. So in the first months they behave a lot like a loan. What you get over Rocket is a lower minimum, a published APR range and a faster online process, not a line you leave sitting unused.

If you really do want to borrow in small pieces over a few years, ask your own bank or credit union what its HELOC draw rules are. Then price it against these two.

Figure is the HELOC to check first

Figure is the one to start with if speed matters. You can check your rate with a soft credit pull, which won’t touch your score, and the full application is a hard pull. Funding can come in as few as 5 days.

Lines run from $15,000 to $750,000 ($35,000 minimum in Texas), and APRs ran from 7.35% to 14.85% as of October 2026. Figure’s minimum credit score varies by state.

Two things to watch. The full amount is drawn at closing, so size the line to what you’ll spend. And the origination fee can reach 4.99%. Figure isn’t available in Hawaii or New York.

Upstart Home Lending for a second quote

Upstart Home Lending is the quote to get next, especially if your score is below Rocket’s 680 floor. Its HELOC is available for credit scores starting at 600, with an easy, online application.

A HELOC from Upstart Home Lending runs $26,000 to $250,000 with 10 and 15 year terms, at 6.52% to 18.00% APR1. The lowest APR is available only to borrowers who meet specific eligibility conditions.

Know this first: you must draw at least 80% of your Upstart Home Lending line at closing. Don’t open a bigger line than you’ll use soon.

Who should pick which

Rocket Mortgage could make sense if you need $45,000 or more in one shot, your score is 680 or higher, and you want a fixed rate. Get its quote, then line it up against the other two.

Figure fits when you know the amount, need it soon, and want to see a rate before a hard pull.

Upstart Home Lending fits when your score is in the 600s, or you want a second HELOC quote to keep the first one honest.

None of the three? If a monthly payment won’t fit right now, a home equity agreement trades the payment for a share of your home’s future value. It isn’t cheap, so read home equity options by credit score or browse all home equity guides first.

Rocket Mortgage HELOC: the bottom line

Rocket Mortgage doesn’t have a HELOC, and Quicken Loans is just Rocket’s old name. What it does have is a fixed home equity loan that starts at $45,000, needs a 680 score and doesn’t publish rates.

That’s fine for a big, one-time bill. For anything smaller, or if you want to see a number before you apply, price Figure first and Upstart Home Lending second.

Figure could make sense if you need less than Rocket’s $45,000 minimum, want to check a rate with a soft pull first, and can handle a monthly payment.
